EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO NATIONALS
Pursuant to the Philippine Foreign Service Act of 1991 and the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act, as amended, the Department of Foreign Affairs is mandated to formulate and implement policies and programs to promote and protect the rights and welfare of Filipino migrants, and provide assistance to overseas Filipinos in distress.
WHO CAN REQUEST ASSISTANCE?
- Overseas Filipino nationals in distress who are currently in Vanuatu.
- Next-of-Kin of Filipino nationals in distress in Vanuatu.
- Filipino nationals outside of Vanuatu may contact the Philippine Embassy in Canberra for assistance.
WHAT ARE SOME AREAS OF ASSISTANCE THE CONSULATE GENERAL MAY PROVIDE?
The Consulate General may be able to extend assistance in the following cases:
- Death of Filipinos (repatriation of remains or personal belongings, issuance of mortuary certificate)
- Filipinos in jail
- Referrals to local lawyers
- Court cases (monitoring and legal assistance as appropriate)
- Violence against women
- Police cases
- Human trafficking
- Repatriation of distressed and undocumented workers
- Issuance of advisories
HOW MAY ATN SERVICES BE AVAILED OF?
Personally visit the Consulate; or
- Send an accomplished Assistance to National (ATN) form by mail, e-mail (xxx) or fax to xxx (Form is downloadable here); or
- Call or send an SMS to xxx, stating your full name, area of concern, and type of assistance required.
Please take note that PCG Vanuatu cannot provide information or assistance for visas to Australia, or residency in Australia.
PCG Vanuatu also cannot entertain requests for information on visas to third countries.
